If you are like me, you might think you know what is going on in the world of tech and social media. You have a smartphone and you know how to use it. I am of the generation that remembers what it was like before the internet was readily accessible and before cell phones. Today’s youth, however, don’t know the pain of trying to do a research paper using a card catalog or only being able to talk to someone if you are near a landline.
According to a 2015 study from the Pew Research Center, teens are constantly online. Seventy-five percent have access to a cell phone and more than 56% are online for several hours a day. While this probably doesn’t surprise you, considering seven out of ten Americans use social media, maybe you aren’t aware what teens are using these days.
