How do I access Compass?

Members-only resources are located in Compass, our elearning hub (also known as a learning management system, or LMS). If you’ve ever taken an online course, you’ve probably used a similar platform  (e.g., Blackboard).

If you are a current Healthy Teen Network member, and your membership has been processed and activated (if you’re receiving the weekly egram, our email newsletter, then your membership has been processed and activated), you have already been added as a user to Compass and are eligible to use the self-enrollment key.

To access members-only materials, login to Compass using your email and the password you received via email. If you forgot your password, you can follow the prompts on the login screen to have Compass reset your password immediately. You’ll likely need to reset your password the first time you login.

  • User Name = email associated with your membership
  • Password = check your email, or request a password reset through Compass

Once you’re in Compass, you’ll want to either browse the resources (called “courses” in Compass), or you can navigate directly to a course via a link. Within Compass, resources are categorized as open access or members-only.

How do I see members-only, exclusive resources in the Compass?

To see members-only resources, you must first to “enroll” in the “course.”
  1. Make sure you’re logged into Compass.
  2. Navigate to the desired course, either by browsing the list of courses, or using a direct link.
  3. Enter the enrollment key emailed to members only. (HINT: search your email for “enrollment key.”)

You may now access the resource as many times as you want. Your enrollment in the “course” will expire automatically after 60 days (or when your membership expires, whichever occurs first), but no worries, because as long as you are a current member, you can re-enroll as many times as you wish.

How do I see open access resources in the Compass?

To see open access resources, anyone may view the resource as a “Guest,” or members only may choose to “enroll” in the “course.”

With open access resources, members (only) who wish to receive a Certificate of Completion for the course must enroll before completing course activities. Enrolling in the course also adds it to the list of “My Courses,” making it easier to return to the resource later.

  1. Make sure you’re logged into Compass.
  2. Navigate to the desired course.
  3. Select “Course Dashboard” in the top right corner of the course page.
  4. Select “Enroll me in this course.”
  5. Enter the enrollment key emailed to members only. (HINT: search your email for “enrollment key.”)
