Position Description

Healthy Teen Network seeks a Communications Intern to work 15-19 hours per week, with a minimum three-month commitment. The Intern will work out of our Baltimore office and assist in various projects. Specific project assignments and tasks will be based on the individual’s skill set, experience, and course objectives, to be mutually established, to support a positive learning experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in the implementation of organizational marketing and communications plan, in support of mission, vision, guiding principles, and strategic plan 
  • Support development and dissemination of Healthy Teen Network products and resources, such as tip sheets, infographics, blog posts, webpages, etc. 
  • Support development and visual design of instructional design, such as PowerPoint or Prezi slides and other forms of elearning modules 
  • Support member recruitment and retention  
  • Support implementation of the conference sponsorship and marketing plan, soliciting potential exhibitors, sponsors, and advertisers 
  • Support background research for the planning and writing of grant proposals 
  • Complete special projects, as assigned
Education and Experience
  • Enrollment in an accredited university or college, in pursuit of a graduate degree 
  • Some experience or course work and interest in adolescent sexuality and reproductive health 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of and interest in adolescent sexual and reproductive health  
  • Strong writing and oral communication skills 
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in graphic design, web design, and/or social media marketing a plus 
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills in English  
  • Proficient organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to prioritize work 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer applications 
  • Self-motivated to work independently and collaboratively with multiple departments 
  • Positive, proactive, and personable team player 
  • Sense of commitment and responsibility to Healthy Teen Network vision, mission, and guiding principles

The work environment an open office environment is that which is typical of an office/classroom setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately noisy.

Salary
Compensation varies. Coordination with Federal Work Study Program for stipend may be available. Coordination with college/university for course credit is available
