Volt is Healthy Teen Network’s initiative to generate energy around adolescent and young adult men’s (AYAM) health and well-being. Read more about Volt here.
Are the young people in your life asking questions about their health that you don’t feel prepared to answer? Or maybe you want to have a “talk” with your young person about their health, but don’t know how to start the conversation? Are you looking for resources other than general internet searches? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, look no further.
Healthy Teen Network’s Parent and Caring Adult Resource Center can help parents and other caring adults (such as youth workers, coaches, mentors, youth ministers, counselors) guide youth to good health decisions.
Here, you will find: Generate My Healthy Future Plan, a tool to help you guide a young person in determining the health matters of greatest interest to them, and where to go online to learn more about the issue, or to get help for the young person; Helping Your Teen Stay Healthy and Safe: Access to Confidential Contraceptive Services, a brochure to help parents and caring adults understand why supporting teens’ access to confidential services is consistent with good parenting; Opportunity Knocks, a tip sheet to help parents and caring adults take advantage of teachable moments to discuss sex with young people; Keep It Simple, a video, or motion graphic, designed to help link young men and women, ages 15-19, to trusted, “teen friendly” contraceptive and reproductive healthcare providers; and a hub for links to other recommended online and print materials developed to help parents and caring adults have discussions with teens and young adults about their health and wellness.
