Healthy Teen Network encourages its members and supporters to contact their two U.S. Senators and urge them to oppose S.J. Res. 43 and vote against it if comes to the Senate floor. The resolution passed the U.S. House of Representatives last week. If passed by the Senate and signed by the President, the resolution would prevent from taking effect a federal regulation that would prohibit Title X grantees from excluding qualified family planning providers from their Title X networks, or from giving preferential treatment to specific types of providers, for reasons unrelated to their ability to provide family planning services effectively. It is widely understood that the regulation was adopted in 2016 by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to prevent all qualified family planning health care providers, such as Planned Parenthood Federation of America affiliates, from being excluded from Title X.
