In the current times, it is not uncommon for folks to feel at a loss for how to support transgender, non-binary, and intersex people and communities. With ever-escalating attacks on trans folks, part of the anti-trans movement’s goal is to make us believe that we have limited power to protect trans people and their loved ones.
There are many actions that we can take—both individually and collectively—as measures of solidarity with trans people and communities.
While we may not be able to immediately curtail or disarm the attacks, there are many actions that we can take—both individually and collectively—as measures of solidarity with trans people and communities.
In our monthly pay-what-you-can webinar, Trans Affirming Actions: Solidarity Training to Help Cisgender People to Support Trans Folks in 2025 & Beyond!, we provide folks with perspective on how to contextualize the current attacks on trans communities and ground folks with opportunities for actions to fight back and help mitigate the impact.
In addition to strategies such as contacting your local, state, and federal elected officials and donating to trans-led causes, here are five actions from our ever-growing resource of Actions for Trans Allies. These are just a few ideas to help you consider your own opportunities to support and advocate for trans people and communities this Pride Month and beyond.
Make sure your knowledge is trans-informed and up-to-date.
When fighting the misinformation campaigns, it’s important to make sure that you have a solid understanding of what it actually means to be trans, how to engage with trans folks respectfully, and how to advocate effectively. If you are looking for a place to start, check out Trans Affirming Training & Consulting’s OnDemand Trans 101.
Find a trans-owned business and buy something or sign up for their services.
The financial realities of anti-trans actions are hitting home quickly, especially as many trans folks are now preparing for unexpected costs, as well as trying to figure out daily survival. Use resources like the Everywhere is Queer app to find and support trans-owned businesses locally and nationally.

Contribute to personal fundraisers of trans folks.
For decades, trans folks have turned to community fundraisers to help meet our medical and logistical needs in order to exist. There are currently over 500 fundraisers by trans folks in need of support on GoFundMe, and there are likely to be more as economic realities get harder.
Host a letter-writing potluck or bake sale.
Bring folks together to share a snack or a meal, and provide very easy ways for people to reach out to their elected officials to voice support for trans folks. For example, Ithaca’s Cis Action Network (ICAN) implemented Tuck Woodstock’s suggestion on the Gender Reveal podcast to host a ‘Trans Day of Have a Nice Snack’ where trans folks are invited to come get baked goods, and cisgender people are invited to write postcards to their elected officials as well as notes of love and kindness to trans folks.
Send a thank-you for support and allyship.
When you notice that a person or entity has said or done something in support of trans community, send a message of encouragement and gratitude. It only takes a few minutes, and it can both help counter the adversarial responses they are likely getting and help them feel connected to and supported by others who are fighting for trans people and rights.
